Home Protection Toolkit · Claims & Records

Organize information before a loss and keep a disciplined record after one.

Use these worksheets to prepare essential contacts, document household belongings, and maintain a clear record of claim communications, damage,
expenses and repairs.

Immediate claim principles

  1. Protect life and follow emergency-service directions first.
  2. Take reasonable emergency steps only when safe and consistent with insurer guidance.
  3. Document conditions with photographs and notes.
  4. Contact the insurer or authorized claim channel promptly.
  5. Retain damaged property unless it creates a hazard or the insurer directs otherwise.
  6. Keep a dated record of conversations, decisions, expenses and documents.
