Canadian Home Protection Scorecard™
A positive readiness framework built around completed actions,
not predicted loss.
The scorecard translates the 28-item readiness assessment into four
recognition levels. It is not an actuarial score, insurance rating,
inspection result or guarantee. Its purpose is to help a household
recognize progress and identify the next reasonable actions.
Recognition levels
Bronze
0–7 points
Primary priority
Establish life-safety alarms, emergency contacts, utility
awareness and a basic insurance review.
Silver
8–14 points
Primary priority
Build consistent household routines, improve water and winter
planning and close major unknowns.
Gold
15–21 points
Primary priority
Validate remaining gaps, test the full response process and
improve documentation.
Platinum
22–28 points
Primary priority
Maintain comprehensive educational readiness through testing,
maintenance and annual review.
Recognition rules
Use the score to recognize completed actions while keeping
safety-critical issues at the top of the household’s priority list.
- Unknown answers receive no point until verified.
-
Any missing life-safety alarm or known serious defect overrides
the level and becomes an immediate priority. - The level recognizes completed preparedness actions only.
-
Households should reassess when people, property, occupancy,
equipment or insurance terms change.
